Affiliation System Of Colleges

According to the New Education Policy 2020, the University affiliation system of the colleges will be phased out over the next 15 years. Presently the universities will be able to affiliate only 300 colleges. The colleges will be provided accreditation through a new transparent, stage-wise system. The main propose of removing the affiliation system of colleges through the universities is to transform every college into an autonomous degree-granting institute. Under NEP 2020 the government aims to make every college self-governed along with making its operations transparent.

Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ added “We have 45,000-degree colleges of which only 8,000 are autonomous. Based on their quality in a phased manner, we will improve their grading and as they progress we will grant them a graded autonomy”.
