Tourism Destination To Get A New Face In Education

 

A tourism hotspot and an education hub, Himachal Pradesh will soon have the services of a Vice Chancellor for Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla. For the past four years it was Pro Vice Chancellor Rajendra Singh Chouhan who looked after this elite post on the orders of the state government. The University Chancellor and Governor Acharya Dev Vrat, has asked for applications from candidates who fit the bill for the post of University Vice Chancellor. The notification in this regard had been released on August 29, with the last date of submitting the applications being September 14, 2017.

APPLICATIONS INVITED FOR THE POST OF VICE CHANCELLOR AT HPU

After the set deadline of applications, Search Committee will examine the applications to check the eligibility of the applicants and come to a conclusion. On September 18, Governor Acharya Dev Vrat will chair a meeting along with the Chief Minister Veerbhadra Singh and Secretary General for Education to decide on the appointment of the new HPU Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor.
Interested candidates can email the resumes to governorsecy-hp@nic.in or submit in person to the Secretary to Governor. The eligibility will be according to the UGC Regulation Act 2010 and HPU Act 1970. The applicant must have a minimum ten years’ of experience in the field of higher education, along with at least five years’ of experience as a faculty in any department. He/she must have work experience with some research institute, board of studies, academic council, EC, Senate or board of management. Till date a large number of people from Himachal Pradesh and outside the state are aspiring for the post, a source said.
