A+ grade to Osmania University by National Assessment and Accreditation Council


Hyderabady-based Osmania University has been accorded the A+ Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). This was informed by the varsity officials. According to the varsity officials, NAAC accorded the A+ Grade in the third Cycle of Assessment done last month. “The A plus status is one notch higher than the ‘A’ grade status it enjoyed till recently,” said a media release.

OU has secured a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.52. The grade was announced during the 27th meeting of the standing committee of NAAC. A nine-member peer team from NAAC had visited the university campus in August to assess the university. Grading was based on facilities such as research publications, laboratories, number of PhDs awarded, health centre and sports grounds’ etc.

The University is celebrating its centenary this year. It is the only educational institution from Telangana to be conferred this status in the third cycle of evaluation. This has been claimed by the press release sent out to the media by the Osmania University.

V-C Congratulates Staff & Students

Osmania University Vice Chancellor, Prof Ramachandram has said that the grading now enhances the academic prestige of the University nationally and globally. Expressing his happiness, he congratulated the entire faculty, non-teaching staff, students and research scholars for their cooperation and concerted efforts.

He attributed the positive outcome of the NAAC visit to the robust systems and practices put in place.

OU Registrar, Ch Gopal Reddy has stated that the long wait for getting NAAC accreditation has ended and hoped that the UGC and other funding bodies will take note of it.

A+ Will Improve Image

As per the media release University officials feel that the A+ grading would refurbish the varsity’s image which was dented due to the agitation for a separate statehood. Students of Osmania University were in the forefront of agitation for separate state of Telangana.
