At 97%, NEET-UG equals 2018 attendance record


NEW DELHI: This year, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for undergraduate medical studies not only received record registrations (20.8 lakh), but also equalled the 2018 record attendance of 97% on Sunday. With this, NEET-UG also saw highest number of candidates ever sitting for any competitive exam so far in India.
The NEET-UG attendance in 2022 was 95%. In 2021 also, 95% of aspirants who had registered for NEET-UG took the test. In 2020, the attendance was lowest at 85%.
The test at all 22 centres in Manipur had to be postponed due to the law and order situation in the state.
Sunday’s test was conducted in 499 cities and towns — 485 in India and 14 overseas — at 4,075 centres.
The record 20.8 lakh candidates are vying for over 1.4 lakh MBBS/BDS seats in government and private colleges. The gender gap also breached the two-lakh mark with 11.8 lakh female candidates — 2.8 lakh more than male aspirants — registering for the test.
