Amid the growing protest against the conduct of NEET & JEE exams 2020 education ministry secretary stated that “there will be no rethink on postponing the NEET & JEE exams in September”.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank earlier stated that the decision to conduct NEET & JEE exams was taken after several requests received from parents and students.
Amid the growing protest against the conducting of NEET & JEE exams, 2020 in September Education Ministry secretary stated that “there will be no rethink on postponing the NEET & JEE exams in September”.
After the release of JEE and NEET 2020 admit cards, for the past few days, thousands of students are continuously tagging the Education Minister, asking for government intervention in the matter. They are also demanding the postponement of the JEE and NEET 2020 exams. Many students have also asked for the resignation of the Education minister. Many political leaders have also reached the Education Minister requesting cancellation of examinations.
However, the Education Minister in an interview replied on the decision of holding NEET & JEE exams 2020 that the decision to conduct the examinations was taken after a request from parents and students. He also assured that necessary precautions will be taken at the examination center for the safe conduct of the JEE and NEET 2020 examinations.
No-Rethink Over Postponing NEET & JEE Exams 2020
On Wednesday amid intensified protest from students as well as from the political leaders of opposition parties and activists, the Nation testing Agency waved off all the rumors regarding education ministry to rethink over the postponement of NEET & JEE exams 2020. The NTA stated that the entrance examinations will be conducted on the scheduled dates.
On 26th August, the chief ministers of 7 states (non-BJP) approached Sonia Gandhi, the Chief of Congress party. They also conferred that they will approach the Supreme Court regarding the Centre’s decision to conduct the NEET & JEE exams amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
On 27th August 2020, the education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank held ‘Shiksha Samwad’ through his Twitter handle. In the session also the Education Ministry clearly stated that the exams will be conducted as per the schedule.
It is believed that the Education Ministry is firm on its decision and will not change its decision of holding exams in September. Surprisingly so far more than 16 lakh students have downloaded the NEET and JEE admit cards.
