NAAC Assessment of Accreditation Validity of HEIs

According to the existing provisions of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), the accreditation validity of HEIs will stand extended for those institutions which have submitted the IIQQA/online Self-Study Report (SSR), before/ during the pandemic phase. But the process stands delayed because of the prevailing pandemic situation. The extension of accreditation validity will remain applicable until the accreditation and assessment process of the NAAC is being completed.

Another mandatory condition is that such institutions do not withdraw or pull back their applications for the extension of accreditation validity. Also, they agree to continue with the process within 3 months from the release of the government/ university notice to normally resume academic activity.

This decision was later taken at the 2nd meeting of the Academic Advisory Committee of NAAC. As per the details of the 2nd meeting held, the existing provisions of the NAAC don’t approve the extension of accreditation validity of those Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) whose accreditation validity expired before March 1, 2020, and submitted IIQA but the process was delayed due to pandemic. So, the provisions for assessment of accreditation validity of Higher Educational Institutions were revised during this meeting.

“But the processing of their IIQA/SSR application stages deadlines will be automatically extended for a period of three months after normal academic activities resume as per the government/university notification,” it read.

“For the academic year 19-20, complete data either for SSR or for AQAAR can be submitted after results,” said YL Srinivas, NAAC member. However, if the colleges are ready with data, they can submit as and when ready, he added.”
