What is your opinion on the current hiring scenario?

Since last year, corporate hiring has been suffering from a wave of recession, due to which the offer letters of our students are also revoked at various stages. For example, such things have been experienced by the students-

The intake of employees was lesser than what the institute was expecting.

Increased Competition for Jobs

During a recession, the job market becomes more challenging, with more job seekers and fewer job openings. This increased competition means that candidates may need help in securing employment.

Economic Uncertainty

A looming recession can create economic uncertainty, causing companies to adopt a more cautious approach to hiring. Employers may hesitate to commit to long-term employment contracts and prioritize cost-cutting measures, such as hiring freezes or layoffs.

Shifting job Market Demands

Students need to focus on “skill.” And “proactivity’ They should focus on having an expert area to enter the talent pool. Companies have started the hit-and-trial method to get the best and most hardworking employees for them. This ensures that the student has no casual and taken-for-granted behaviour to avoid resource and time wastage.

“The students should focus on delivering their promises rather than disregard their responsibilities and duties. Companies are focused on getting skill-oriented employees who can work in teamwork with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and are much more productive and proactive.” 

They are looking for candidates who deliver more productivity and growth to the company and utilize their skills and qualities. They are focusing on ‘deliverables ‘and not on marks. It’s like a threshold and essential qualification to them. It should just match specific criteria, and they are focusing on skills and development.

Let us look at the factors that affect the placement process of freshers:

Different industries are impacted differently during a recession. Some industries, such as travel, hospitality, and retail, may face more significant challenges and have a higher rate of layoffs or hiring freezes. Why do the students need to get their expected packages?

The students are not getting their expected package due to the following problems being recognized in the corporate sector first is the increase in the talent pool, and the second is the decrease in average CTC (Cost to Company) and the failure of startups in silicon valley which are caused due to the sudden wave of Recession.

Some of the causes of students not getting what they are expecting are:

Core company hiring has increased after covid; why are your opinions on the same?

We mostly talk about IT companies, but we still need to catch up on what is happening in the trends of core company hiring. Branches like mechanical, mechanical automation, EEE, EC, etc., have been a widespread focus on placement hiring drives. When the IT sector took over, there was a decrease in the hiring of the manufacturiang sector. But as India launched the Make in India initiative, it led to production link incentives that allow the manufacturing or assembling various international products in India itself.

Some of the causes of students not getting what they are expecting are:

“This trend increased the electronics market’s manufacturing sector, leading to an increase in recruitment. The semiconductor companies have also started the hiring process again, which has given rise to placement trends in the core areas. The slump during covid is now being compensated by core hiring.”

The tables have turned, and people need help to get a job in the IT sector rather than the manufacturing sector. Companies are looking for new creative minds and talent pools to add more to the company’s social and economic growth.
