Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan Launches 100-Day Reading Campaign ‘Padhe Bharat’

On Saturday, the Union Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, launched a 100-day reading campaign titled ‘Padhe Bharat’. The launch of the campaign is in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020 that lays emphasis on the promotion of joyful reading culture for children by ensuring the availability of age-appropriate reading books for children in the local/mother tongue/regional/tribal language.

During the launch, the Union Education minister underlined the importance of reading and how it helps in the development of the child. He also said that if the habit of reading is inculcated at an early stage, it helps in brain development and enhances imagination.

He added that reading is the foundation of learning and it leads towards the development of critical thinking, creativity, enhances vocabulary, and helps to express both verbally and in writing.

“It helps children to relate to their surroundings and real-life situation,” said the Union Education Minister , as reported by ANI.

What will the Campaign Focus on?


Union Education Minister Launch the Padhe Bharat campaign will focus on children studying in Balvatika to Grade 8. The reading campaign will be organized for 100 days, starting from January 1, 2022, and will continue till April 10, 2022.

It aims at having the participation of all the stakeholders at the national and state level, including children, parents, communities, educational administrators, etc.

One activity per week will be designated for one group with a focus on making reading enjoyable and fun and building a lifelong association with the job of reading.

Padhe Bharat will also focus on different Indian languages, including the mother tongue, the local language, regional language, etc.
