Teachers Day Celebrations: Chandigarh State Department felicitates meritorious Educators

On the eve of teacher’s day celebrations, The Education Department of Chandigarh Administration felicitated meritorious teachers and commendation certificates. The UT Administrator VP Singh Badnore presided as the chief guest for the Teachers day celebrations at the Tagore’s Theatre Tuesday. The teachers were awarded for their dedicated services and outstanding contribution in diverse fields.

The event began with a stunning presentation of Ganesh Vandana by the teachers of GMSSS-22, followed by an award ceremony featuring 15 state awards and 6 commendation certificates. Smt. Asha Jaiswal, Mayor Chandigarh, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Education Secretary, Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education, U.T., Chandigarh were also present on this occasion. Smt. Sukhraj Sandhu, lecturer of GMSSS-16-cum- nodal officer Cultural Affairs has received National Award 2016-2017 from the Hon’ble President of India

Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore congratulated all the teachers for their tireless efforts in honing the students year after year. He also applauded the Education Department for successfully raising the level of schools of Chandigarh. He further said that with constant desire to improve the education system in the city and to empower the youth, the department has been laying its focus on providing qualitative education. “The infrastructure of various schools has been improved and new schools with better facilities have been constructed. Further, the ‘Extended School’ model has been in Sector 43 and Sector 49 government schools, apart from the introduction of and cluster-based kitchens,” said Badnore.
