West Bengal Government on Monday issued a notice to the revision of salaries of teachers and Professors of public universities aided and government-aided colleges and universities that the government will be effective from January 1, 2020.
We might remember that on November 1, CM Mamata Banerjee has announced that the revised UGC pay scale, as recommended by the Central Pay Commission, will be implemented.
Notification issued by the higher education department chief secretary made it clear that there will be no payments in arrears. Teachers have been demanding salary arrears from January 1, 2016, until December 31, 2019.
With effect from January 2020, house rent allowance (HRA) will be 12% of the basic salary to be revised, but the maximum will be Rs I2,000 months. A notice saying ceiling for HRA drawn by wife and husband together also should be raised to Rs 12,000 per month.
It further said that there would be only three designations for teachers in universities and colleges – associate professors, assistant professors, and professors. The headmaster of the college undergraduate should draw the salary of a head and a post-graduate college association, it would be that the professors.
Those who are not covered by the West Bengal Health Scheme will get medical benefits of Rs 500 per month.
