    Jamia Millia Islamia Organizes National Webinar on NEP

    School of Education, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) organized a two-day (31st August- 01st September 2021) National Webinar entitled “Transformative Reforms in NEP 2020: Present Initiatives and the Road Ahead”. The Webinar was inaugurated by Prof Vijay Kumar Shukla, VC, BHU, and Prof Najma Akhtar, VC, JMI.

    The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Session Padma Shri Prof Ravindra Kumar Sinha, Vice-Chancellor, Mata Vaishno Devi University in his valedictory address stated that there was a need to probe a bit deeper into some theoretical and practical aspects of the implementation of the policy.

    Parents prefer to send their children to ‘English-medium’ schools regardless of the quality of education they offer because of the perception that mastery of the English language ensures success in later life, there is a need to change this mindset

    He said.

    Prof. Sinha also said that as per the NEP, the aim of using regional languages is not just to improve a child’s learning outcomes, but also to “inculcating knowledge of India”. This “is considered critical for purposes of national pride, self-confidence, self-knowledge, cooperation, and integration”. He specified that education policy implementation is a multidirectional process of constant negotiations from the bottom up as well as from the top down.

    He stated that the National Educational Policy would facilitate the participation of the entire society in the betterment of the educational system which would focus on the important issue of how to live and function with the system within which we live.

    Prof Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, JMI appreciated the initiatives by the central and state governments. She stated that there is enough evidence now, to believe that the fate of this education policy is going to be very different from the previous policies. The Central Government leadership has been very serious in initiating the formulation of several plans of action for the implementation of the Policy. . She stated that given time and resources, this policy is going to reshape the entire landscape of teaching and learning in our country at all levels.

    On the first day, the dignitaries in the panel discussion were Prof Ram Shankar Kureel, Former Founder VC, Baba Saheb Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Madhya Pradesh, Prof R P Tiwari., VC Central University of Punjab, Bhatinda, Prof Tankeshwar Kumar, VC Central University of Haryana, Haryana and Prof Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Motihari (Bihar). On the second day, there was an invited talk by Prof Ranjit K Verma, Founding VC, Munger University that was chaired by Prof Mohd Miyan, former VC, MANUU. Twenty-one papers were presented by research scholars, academicians, and policy implementers.

    The convenor of the Webinar was Prof Aejaz Masih, Nodal Officer , School of Education and co-convenor is Dr Savita Kaushal, Associate Professor, IASE , Jamia Millia Islamia . The organizing team comprised of Dr Ansar Ahmad ,Assistant Professor , IASE , Dr Sajjad Ahmad and Dr Jawaid Hussain Assistant Professor from DES, Jamia Millia Islamia and also Vandana, Research Scholar , DES , JMI.

    “There Is No Plan To Cancel NEET 2021”: Education Minister In Live Webinar

    New Delhi: Putting an end to speculation regarding the conduct of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET 2021), Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ today said that there is no plan to cancel NEET 2021. The Education Minister in a webinar answered questions regarding the conduct of board and entrance exams in 2021.
    While addressing the students during the live discussion on Twitter for which students and parents were encouraged to submit questions tagged with “#EducationMinisterGoesLive”,

    There is no plan to cancel NEET 2021,” Mr. Pokhriyal said. We postponed NEET thrice in 2020 and gave students an opportunity to change their exam centers..we could have canceled the exam but it would have been a great loss for students and the country

    While addressing questions given by the students on the reduction of the syllabus, Mr. Pokhriyal said, “We are discussing this constantly. And we are trying how many questions can be framed in what way that whatever syllabus reduction has happened

    The coronavirus pandemic has disrupted the conduct of the board and entrance exam this year. NTA successfully conducted the first session of JEE Main 2020 in January but had to postpone the second session.

    Despite protests from students, education stakeholders, and politicians, NTA, after the Supreme Court’s permission, held the Engineering entrance exam in September.

    The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2021 will be held on yy, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said today. In a webinar, addressing students, Mr. Pokhriyal Announced the NEET 2021 date. The National Testing Agency (NTA) — conducting body of the all-India medical entrance exam — is likely to release the detailed notification, along with the schedule for registration, admit card, and result, on the official website, intranet.nic.in.

    NEET is the single gateway for admission to MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH admissions in India. Based on the NEET result, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) and state bodies conduct counseling for 15% all-India quota (AIQ) and 85% state quota seats.

    In 2020, NTA had to postpone the medical entrance exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The entrance test was later held in September, following Government Guidelines, despite a large group of students protesting against the conduct of exams amid a pandemic.

    Later, NTA held a second phase of NEET 2020, before announcing results on October 16.
