    GSEB 10th, 12th Exam 2023: Teachers begin assessment of 91 lakh answer sheets



    AHMEDABAD: The answer sheet assessment of Class 10 and 12 final exams began on Thursday at 334 assessment centres set up by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB). The final exams that began on March 14 got over on Wednesday.
    Sources said that the board has assigned 68,000 teachers on answer sheet assessment duty who will evaluate 91 lakh answer sheets. Board data showed that 49 lakh answer sheets, the highest number, are of Class 10, followed by 36 lakh answer sheets of Class 12 general stream and six lakh answer sheets of the Class 12 Science stream.
    According to sources the board will complete Class 12 assessment first and declare results by the end of April. This will be followed by Class 12 general stream results in May and Class 10 results in June.
    Sources said that at Class 12 general stream answer sheets will be checked at 115 assessment centres, Class 12 science stream answer sheets at 56 centres and Class 10 answers sheets will be checked at 163 centres. Sources said that 38,000 teachers have been assigned on Class 10 answer sheet evaluation.

    The students who took Sanskrit Madhyama exam on March 20 had complained that the question paper was drafted in the old format which was discontinued years ago by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB). The board has decided to reconduct the exam on March 29.
    Students had complained that questions having the total weightage of about 80 marks in the 100 marks paper were asked in the discontinued format. Most of the students had said that they could not attempt them as they did not understand the questions and they had not prepared for them.
    Sources said that the many Sanskrit teachers have approached the board and have complained about this issue. Sources said that taking note of these complaints the board has decided to reconduct the exam on March 29.
