She said they are committed to creating an engaging and innovative environment that prepares students for the unique challenges of the 21st century.
Speaking about G20 Young Ambassadors Summit 2023 she said that as Young Ambassadors, the youths have a unique platform to share their experiences and represent the collective voice of global youth.
“This G20 Young Ambassadors Summit 2023 is your chance to meaningfully discuss, collaborate and share knowledge with the G20 leaders. We thank the G20 and Prime Minister of the country for this remarkable opportunity,” she said.
Governor R N Ravi urged youths to come up with innovative and progressive recommendations that will shape the future and meet their aspirations. “Here is the opportunity. If you let it go, leaders will decide what they feel like according to their understanding. G20 we all know how powerful the group is. It can change the destiny of the world. “But with India currently holding the G20 presidency, we have a chance to tell the world a new way of thinking and show them the transformation our nation has gone through over the last nine years. It’s time to seize the moment and come up with the solutions of tomorrow. Let’s use this opportunity to make a positive difference in the world,” he said.
Amitabh Kant, India’s G20 Sherpa, expressed his happiness for Sri Krishna Institutions for taking the initiative of holding the conference. He said that India is taking over the presidency of G20 during a very tumultuous time, as post covid-19 era has seen about 200 million people worldwide fall under the poverty line and almost 100 million people lose their jobs, leading to a global recession with one third of the world affected and 75 countries facing global debt crisis.
Moreover, there is a crisis of climate action and climate finance and a war going on in Europe for the past one and half, bringing with it immense political tension, impacting food, fuel and fertilizer, and breaking down global value chains. However, he noted that every challenge throws an opportunity, and this is a great opportunity for India, he said.
“In the past India always resp-onded to the agenda set by the developed world, this is the first time that India is setting an agenda for the entire world,” he said.
India’s presidency is critical because it will set three important narratives for the rest of the world for the development of sections of the people, including poor, he said.
The first one is Development and Political Narrative. India was able to digitalize its economy in a very big way and built identity for 1.4 billion people. During 2015-2017 India was able to create 500 million bank accounts. The country ensured 900 million people use mobile phones. 13 million houses, 110 million toilets, 243 million piped drinking water connections and 55,000 kms of roads were created in the last nine years.
Inclusive, sustainable and resilient growth will be the second narrative. If India could not be able to push for inclusive growth, one third of the population in the world living in poverty will not be able to grow. The world needs accelerated action to achieve sustainable development goals.
Climate action and climate finance will be the third narrative India will push. The developed world which had committed to 100 billion dollars a year in 2019 in Copenhagen but have not lived up to it. A large sum of money is available with private finance, which is not able flow in due to outdated policies of the world bank and international monetary fund. They need to be redesigned to suit the present time.
L Murugan, minister of state for fisheries and information and broadcasting said that India’s G20 presidency will work to promote a universal sense of oneness, hence the theme ‘One earth, One family and One future’ has been chosen. Youth in this endeavor are important partners. The summit will exemplify India’s youth centric efforts and provide an opportunity to showcase its value and policy measures to the youth across the globe.
“India is the fastest developing major economy in the world, it is deeply committed to democracy and multilateralism. India G20 presidency seeks to play a vital role by finding global solutions for the wellbeing of all,” he said.
