Spring Dale founder Surinder Singh Sandhu passes into eternity


AMRITSAR :It was an emotional moment for Amritsar’s Spring Dale family when Spring Dale School’s founder Surinder Singh Sandhu passed into eternity, leaving behind a rich legacy of educational values, a large family of successful alumni, thousands of students, and staff.
A seasoned educationist of the era who established and nurtured Spring Dale Senior School hailed from a family of freedom fighters. Born in undivided India Sandhu’s family migrated to India following the partition of the country. He went to Punjab University for his higher studies where he had been a national-level player of Volleyball. His keen interest in educational planning took him to Ethiopia where he served as a Head of the History Department in the Ministry of Education, government of Ethiopia.
Having widely traveled to numerous countries of the world he returned to his roots and founded Spring Dale Senior School whose foundation stone was laid by noted humanitarian late Bhagat Pooran Singh .
Sandhu who was the Chairman Emeritus of Spring Dale Educational Society left for his heavenly abode is survived by his grandchildren Sahiljit Singh Sandhu, who is heading Spring Dale Educational Society as Chairman, and Kirat Sandhu Cheema, Director, Spring Dale Educational Society.
