Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi was appointed as the chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi will succeed Arvind Saxena whose term as UPSC chairperson completed on 7th August 2020.
On Friday 2020 Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi was appointed as the chairman of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). UPSC is the central body that conducts various recruitments including the civil services examination to select India’s bureaucrats and diplomats.
Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi will succeed Arvind Saxena whose term as UPSC chairperson completed on 7th August 2020. As per the sources, the term of appointment of Prof Pradeep Kumar Joshi will be till 12th May 2021. He joined UPSC as a member in May 2015.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the civil services examination annually in three stages i.e., preliminary, mains and interview, to select officers of Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Indian Foreign Service (IFS) among others.
About Professor Joshi, New Chairman of UPSC
Professor Pradeep Kumar Joshi who has been appointed as the UPSC chairman is a current member of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and former chairperson of Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission and Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission.
Prof Joshi had also served as the Director of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) of Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Prof Joshi did his Post Graduate Degree in Commerce in 1977 and Ph.D. Degree in Commerce in 1981 from Kanpur University, Kanpur. He has done his specialization in the field of Financial Management, Financial Control, Management Accounting, Taxation, Rural Development Management, Management in Panchayati Raj Institution, and Khadi Gramodyog, etc. He has been serving in the field of education for more than 28 years now.
Also, he has served as the Professor, Head and Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh) from May 2000 to June 2006. Prior to that, he has served the Department of Business Administration, Rohilkhand University, Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh), and Bareilly College as Reader.
Prof Joshi has held several administrative positions during his tenure as an educator. He has more than 28 years of experience in teaching. He has been a researcher as well as an educationist.
