During the interaction with BJP workers at the inauguration of the submarine, Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) PM Narendra Modi conferred that the Andaman and Nicobar Island will have more Higher Educational Institutions including ANCOL college, medical college, and law college.
On 10 August 2020 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the submarine Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) connecting Chennai and Port Blair through video conferencing. The submarine cable will also connect Port Blair to Swaraj Dweep (Havelock), Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Kamorta, Great Nicobar, Long Island, and Rangat.
This connectivity will enable the delivery of faster and more reliable mobile and landline telecom services to Andaman & Nicobar Islands, on par with other parts of India. These projects are being initiated with a view to transforming the lives of people in this region. It will also bring transformation in the sectors such as education, defense, business, and tourism.
The aim of the project is to enhance the telecom and Broadband connectivity. Further, this will boost tourism and employment generation in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This will boost the economy and raise the livelihood standards of the region.
‘Better connectivity will also facilitate the delivery of e-Governance services such as telemedicine and tele-education. Small enterprises will benefit from opportunities in e-commerce, while educational institutions will utilize the enhanced availability of bandwidth for e-learning and knowledge sharing. Business Process Outsourcing services and other medium and large enterprises will also reap the benefits of better connectivity.’
Andaman and Nicobar To Have More Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs)
During the interaction at the inauguration of the submarine, Optical Fibre Cable (OFC) PM Narendra Modi conferred that the Andaman and Nicobar Island will have more Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) including ANCOL college, medical college, and law college.
“This region will have many Higher Education Institutions, including ANCOL college, medical college, and law college,” said PM Narendra Modi.
The colleges and higher educational institutions will focus on building the youth of the country. During the inauguration, MHRD Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank also mentioned about the steps that the government has taken not just to boost the education sector but also to bring transformation in the way of learning for making the youth job-ready.
