School students and teachers eagerly wait for this month, May. Apart from the usual holidays, schools across the country declare their summer vacations at this time. Parents can utilize this time to engage their wards in activities that can help them grow and develop outside the classroom environment.

School Holidays in May 2023
May 5 – Buddha Purnima
May 7 – Sunday

State-wise Summer Vacations
Delhi
Schools in Delhi are expected to have summer break from May 11 to June 30. However, an official confirmation on the summer vacation is awaited. Once announced, students can use this break to learn and develop new skills that might not be possible with regular school classes.
West Bengal
West Bengal had scheduled to start summer vacations on May 24. However, due to the heatwave situation in the state, the government preponed the summer vacation to May 02, 2023.
Odisha
According to the Odisha Department of Education, the summer break in the schools was scheduled to begin on May 05. But, due to the heatwave condition, summer vacations for government and private schools were started early on April 21, 2023.
Uttar Pradesh
As per the academic schedule, the summer break in the state will be from May 21 to June 20, 2023. The state education board is yet to announce this decision formally.
Jharkhand
Jharkhand schools are likely to have their summer vacations from May 21 to June 10. While the new academic session will start on June 12, 2023.
Madhya Pradesh
Summer vacations in Madhya Pradesh began on May 01. As per the government orders, the vacations will continue till June 15, 2023.
Andhra Pradesh
As per the notification issued by S Suresh Kumar, the Commissioner of School Education, the summer break in the state started on May 1. All schools in the state will reopen on June 12, 2023.
