Passion projects go beyond academics, foster self-discovery and self-realisation

Pune: Primary students of Victorious Kidss Educares recently displayed their works at an exhibition called ‘Udaan’. The children displayed their mettle across seven broad categories such as culinary, space and science, music and dance, visual arts, mathematics, sports and information, communication and technology.
A statement issued by the school said that, the concept of Passion Project, a weekly scheduled time is implemented right from Senior KG to PYP4. This initiative finally prepares the young learners for the culminating PYP 5 exhibition. A Passion Project is a project or initiative that learners undertake in order to display their agency and enhance their ATL skill sets. It enables learners to question and lead their own learning as they progress through the PYP framework, gaining understanding, knowledge, skills, and attitudes, added the statement.
There were seven broad categories where VKidss champions displayed their mettle. The Culinary group set up the fete with scrumptious savouries and further extended it by pledging the proceeds towards charitable causes. The Space & Sciences group modelled the ‘Big Bang’ and shared their aspirational quest for a habitable planet. The Music and Dance groups orchestrated their rendition and staged their choreography.
Visual Arts created sketches and fashioned doll clothes. Math group pompously threw brain teasers and challenged the crowd alike. The Sports team broke the stereotype by displaying medals earned in Taekwondo, Football, Tennis, Badminton, Cricket, etc. We could get a glimpse of the millennial Gen X game coders from members of the ICT group. The efficacy of inquiry-based teaching and learning is pivotal for young minds to investigate real-world problems allowing expression to explore their natural curiosities.
