Jamia Hamdard appoints Dr Sikandar as new registrar


NEW DELHI: Dr. M. A. Sikandar has been appointed as the new Registrar of Jamia Hamdard (Deemed to be University), according to an official announcement made by the university. He officially assumed the position on July 10, 2023, succeeding Mr. S. S. Akhtar, the former Officiating Registrar and Controller of Examinations.
Dr. Sikandar brings with him a wealth of experience in university administration. He has previously served as the Registrar at two universities: MANUU and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi. In addition, he held the position of Director at the National Book Trust, India (Ministry of Education) for four years, from 2011 to 2015. He also served for over a decade at the University of Delhi, holding various administrative roles such as Assistant Registrar, Planning Officer, Deputy Registrar, and Joint Registrar. Moreover, he briefly served as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) at MDI Gurgaon in 2005.
Dr. Sikandar holds an MBA in HR, an M.A. in Labour Studies, and an LL.B from the University of Delhi. He obtained his Ph.D. in Commerce and Business from Jamia Millia Islamia. Prior to joining Jamia Hamdard, he taught management at MANUU Hyderabad. He has published over 30 research papers in national and international journals and has represented the National Book Trust, India, and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) at international book fairs, having visited more than 20 countries.
