BHUBANESWAR: Four government teachers from Balasore district were convicted by special judge, Vigilance, Balasore, for submission of fake educational certificates in connection with their appointment.
They were Daitary Nayak, assistant teacher of Mahisapata Government UGME School under Nilagiri police station, Narahari Nayak, former teacher of Jharanaghati Primary School, (under suspension), Dhirendra Nayak, retired teacher from Pithahata Nodal Primary School and Debendra Kumar Mohapatra, former teacher of Tentulia UGME School.
On Tuesday, the court convicted these teachers and sentenced them to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of two years and fine of Rs 10,000 each. In default of payment of fine, they will undergo rigorous imprisonment too.
The court further sentenced Daitary Nayak and Mohapatra to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of four years and fine of Rs 20,000 each and in default of payment of fine, to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of three months each for the offence. All the sentences are to run concurrently. All the above convicts were forwarded to jail custody on Tuesday.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Dhirendra Nayak, dismissal of Daitary Nayak, Narahari Nayak and Debendra Kumar Mohapatra from service following their conviction.
Gangulal Behera, former inspector, Vigilance, Balasore division had investigated the case and SK Ray, special public prosecutor, Vigilance, Balasore conducted the case on behalf of the prosecution.
