At the 22nd convocation of IIT Guwahati, Ramesh Pokhriyal said that NEP 2020 will create jobs and entrepreneurs. Also, it will align the Indian Education System with global standards.
On Tuesday Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank conferred that the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will create more jobs and entrepreneurs. The education policy will also help the Indian Education System to meet global standards.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank while addressing the 22nd Convocation of IIT Guwahati through video-conferencing said that the new National Education Policy (NEP 2020) will benefit students in many ways.
Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank conferred at the event that “There was no change in the education policy for almost the last three decades. Everyone has welcomed it and the new policy has received an overwhelming response from all segments of the society. Before finalizing, we had consulted teachers, students, parents, and other sections”.
He also said that the National Education Policy will align the Indian Education System with global standards.
He further added that “As former President APJ Abdul Kalam had stated during an IIT-Guwahati convocation programme here that education should create jobs and entrepreneurs, the NEP is aimed at doing the same thing. It will help create jobs and entrepreneurs in our society”.
NEP 2020 to Bring Transformational Reforms in the Education Sector
The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 got approval from the cabinet on 29th July. The education policy replaced the 34 -year-old National Policy on Education framed in 1986. The NEP 2020 is directed towards bringing transformational reforms in school and higher education systems to make India a global knowledge superpower.
Under NEP 2020 several reforms have been highlighted ranging from multi-disciplinary courses with multiple entry and exits, discontinuation of M.Phil programmes, to fees fixation for higher education institutions.
During the convocation programme at IIT Guwahati, a total of 1,803 students coming Ph.D., postgraduate, and undergraduate courses have been awarded degrees.
At the event, Pokhriyal said “The IIT-Guwahati has played an important role in innovation during COVID-19 times. It invented many products. Even the campus is being used as COVID Care Centre, which is a contribution towards the fight against novel coronavirus,”.
