Khalsa College For Women To Stay ‘Scrapped’

In its endeavor to surge further and provide the best in education which can match the requirement of today’s industry, Khalsa College for Women made it a point to part ways. The college shifted gears from Guru Nanak Dev University to the new Khalsa University. But the Congress Government of Punjab had something different in store for the higher education fraternity. It announced the scrapping of Khalsa University in Amritsar which has not deterred the Khalsa College for Women an inch. This 1968 born college has still posed its trust on the one year old scrapped university.

Speaking on the occasion, the college principal-Sukhbir Kaur Mahal expressed her confidence in the management of finding a solution which would not affect the university. This would invite some repercussion but it would not scare us. We are clear about our path and we would go by it because we know what is best for us. Therefore, we would enroll students under the Khalsa University for the next session.

“Despite the government’s announcement of scrapping the university’s status no official notification has been received till date. At present we are not going to show our attachment for Guru Nanak Dev University was college prinicipal Kaur’s message.

The principal of Khalsa College for Education Jaswinder Singh Dhillon who is also the registrar is unsure of the college’s fate. He said that everything depends on the future course of action to be taken by the government which would also decide on the admission of new students. He said that a formal request has been made to Guru Nanak Dev University to cancel our affiliation for the new session. This was to be the first academic year for both colleges under Khalsa University in all the courses.
