Jadavpur University Undertakes Research In Nano Science, Innovative Computing

Jadavpur University is implementing its scientific excellence scheme. And this is being done for research in nano science and mobile and innovative computing.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Suranjan Das has said the university is currently implementing the second phase of the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence scheme. And this is being done with an allocation of Rs. 50 crore from the Centre.

With the grant the university is undertaking research in frontier areas like nano science, cognitive science, advanced materials and devices, mobile and innovative computing, Das informed the media.

“After the successful completion of the research projects under DST-PURSE (Department of Science and Technology-Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence) scheme, JU has been selected for the second phase of the project for more research into science and engineering,” he informed.

ANOTHER FEATHER IN THE CAP

The VC said the university has also successfully completed phase-II of the World Bank-funded TechnicalEducation Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP). TechnicalEducation Quality Improvement Programme is a must for procuring equipment and learning resources, faculty development and industry-institute interactions. And Jadavpur University was evaluated as one of the best performing institutes under this programme.

PREVIOUS MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT 

Recently, Jadavpur University has introduced an in-house e-governance system, i.e., ‘Jadavpur University Management System’ as a part of the ‘University with Potential for Excellence’ scheme. Tasting the success in a bunch of research activities, Jadavpur University is termed as one of the best universities in India in terms of research put. In NIRF Rankings 2017, Jadavpur University bagged the top spot for its research output.
