Every leading organization is looking forward to hire a candidate who posses innovative ideas to solve a problem and is a critical thinker. However, in a nation like ours which has the world’s largest youth population, students are only being taught the theoretical concepts and least focus is laid on nurturing skills like Innovation and Critical Thinking. This factor raises a question over the employ ability of the Indian Youth.
Indian Education System is more inclined towards the theoretical understanding of the concept rather than providing the practical exposure of it. It is the practical application of the things which allow the students to develop Critical Thinking as there are more than one way to solve a problem.
Despite teaching being such a noble profession, a majority of people in India avoid opting for it as a profession. This leads to several vacancies remaining unfilled. Also, it has been observed that the number of teaching faculty in India is decreasing every year. All of these factors lead to a shortage of good quality teachers
Absence of skills like Critical Thinking and Innovation in an Indian students is transforming them into a machine which just knows how to do a limited amount of tasks. This raises a potential threat to the employability of the aspiring graduates as a majority of organizations are looking for candidates who are innovative, possess critical thinking and have the ability to learn and re-learn things.
