Gujarat govt to sanction 5 new private universities

The state government has sanctioned five new private universities and the Gujarat Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2023 will be tabled in the ongoing budgetary session of the state assembly in the next few days. With these universities, the total number of private universities will be 108 in the state.
Two of the universities are in Ahmedabad. The new universities include Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Global University in Chimanbhai Patel Institute campus in Ahmedabad, Gyanmanjari Innovative University in Bhavnagar, Sigma University in Vadodara, Rajju Shroff ROFEL University in Vapi, Valsad and KN University in Sanand, Ahmedabad.
Sources said that the applicants met all the requirements of the government, so they have been approved.
According to sources there are 11 more applications from various institutes and colleges which want the status of a university. Sources said that the government may sanction these applications also next year. Sources said that it is likely that grant-in-aid and private colleges affiliated with large universities such as Gujarat University may take affiliation with these new universities.
