EU looking forward to enhance cooperation in higher education with India.

At the India – EU summit last October, Jean-Claude Juncker, President of European Commission, Donald Tusk, President of European Council and Narendra Modi, the Prime minister of India showed their commitment towards enhancing cooperation with international universities in the fields of higher education. This was told on the Inauguration of the Manipal higher education meet by Raimand Magis, the acting head of the delegation of European Union. He also said that efforts are being made by more than 120 universities towards accelerating their reform process to become more internationally connected and competitive. The Manipal Higher Education Meet was a three-day event aimed at bringing together experts in India and Europe to talk about matters related to the harmonisation and internationalism of higher education. Friedrich Lehmann, Professor of Hochschule Bremen University of applied sciences Germany inaugurated the meet and showed immense pleasure at cooperation that has developed over a period of three years between Manipal and Bremen. He said that young ambassadors who can share their stories globally and create a better world by fostering peace and harmony can be created by exposure to internationalization. Vice Chancellor Of MAHE, Dr Vinod Bhat differentiated between the political and academic thinking in the world that calls for immediate attention to initiatives such as internationalization which can foster collaboration. Ulrich Podewills, Berlin Technical university’s retired chancellor discussed the context of complexities of internationalization in his keynote. He Said that internationalization should move beyond international mobility and result in a process of integrating teaching, learning and research dimension. He also added that this can be achieved only by providing internationally recognised degrees, counselling services, language courses from the host university.
