In the latest Times Higher Education Golden Age university rankings, The Indian Institute Of Technology, Kharagpur has been listed in the top 100 universities. It has also been featured among the top in the emerging university rankings. In the Golden age ranking, only those universities are featured that have been established for more than 50 years but should not be more than 80 years. The institutes that were established between 1945 and 1967 were listed in the Times Higher Education Golden Age ranking. The Golden Age Ranking measured colleges on the basis of their: IIT- Kharagpur was able to secure the 76th position while the University of California, San Diego emerged as the top university. The ranking commemorates a time in Higher Education when it was referred as the Golden Moment for Global education where an ample flow of investments and university expansions was on a massive peak. For this year’s rankings institutions from 44 different countries were considered. IIT- Kharagpur has also been listed among the list of the Top 50 Emerging Economies university rankings of 2018. This list consists of institutes in the countries that have been categorised as “advanced emerging”, “secondary emerging” or “frontier” economies. This list consists of over 350 universities from 42 countries spread across 4 continents. IIT- Kharagpur was positioned at the 45th place. The 1st rank was secured by the Peking University of China. In the 5th year’s rankings, the Ranking has been separated from the ‘BRICS’ acronym and has been given a new title for the purpose of understanding strength and potential of a wide range of emerging economies.
