Blood donation camps in universities of UP on April 25


Lucknow: Voluntary blood donation camps will be organized in all the universities of the state on April 25 with the joint efforts of the state higher education department and the health department.
Around 5,000 students pursuing higher education are likely to donate blood to save the lives of patients across the state.
This was informed by joint director blood transfusion services, Geeta Agarwal on Friday. She said that it is an effort to involve the youth population in voluntary blood donation, which is considered the safest. It will generate a lot of blood donors in the future across the state.
“The decision to conduct blood donation camps in all 50 universities has been taken by the additional chief secretary higher education, Sudhir M Bobde, who have collaborated with the health department for the same,” She added.ACS higher education has already sent a letter to vice-chancellors of all universities and also collaborated with blood banks to conduct camps, she informed.
“Initially, this drive will be conducted at university level and later if it gets good response, it will be implemented in colleges too,” said Geeta.
“We are hoping that by conducting these camps students will be aware of the benefits of blood donation and how a unit of blood can save four lives,” she further added.
