On Monday, a meeting was held on Higher Education with regard to National Education Policy 2020. During the meeting, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the officials that all the colleges should get that too within 3 years of time.
During the meeting held higher education with regard to NEP 2020, the state CM conferred that all the colleges should attain certification from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) within 3 years.
The National Board of Accreditation (NBA) is one of the two major bodies responsible for the accreditation of higher education institutions in India, along with the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
AP CM Asked Officials To Ensure All the Colleges Attain National Accreditation
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy added that the four-year degree course would start from the current academic year i.e., 2020-2021. The course would majorly focus on skill development and research orientation.
CM also mentioned that “those students who have completed their four-year degree course can avail direct admission to Ph.D. From the next academic year onwards, the state government would be introducing five-year integrated Post Graduation programmes and four-year integrated B.Ed courses”.
The CM directed the officials to revamp all the colleges, be it regular degree colleges or Engineering colleges. He also asked the officials to ensure that the colleges follow the standards and guidelines. CM further asked the officials to prepare SOP keeping in mind the best possible ways to improve the standard and quality of education in the state.
Apart from all this during the meeting held on higher education vis-a-vis NEP 2020, CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also asked the officials to work on increasing the number of autonomous colleges as the number of autonomous colleges present in the state is less.
Minister Adimulapu Suresh, AP Council of Higher Education Chairman K Hemachandra Reddy, AP Higher Education Regulatory and Monitoring Commission Chairman Justice V Eswaraiah, Special Chief Secretary Satish Chandra, and other officials were present at the meeting.
