45,000 College Seats Still Vacant In Division

Despite four rounds of the admission process, only over 75 percent of seats have been filled in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) of the Indore district and as the allotment list for the fourth round of College level Counselling (CLC) was declared on Monday, students now have the window of five days till August 5 to get admission.
Of around 70000 seats in the Indore district, 90 percent of seats at the government colleges have been filled, around 80 percent of minority college seats have been filled and over 60 percent of the private colleges have also been filled till Monday.

In government colleges around 90 percent of seats have been filled. However, there are still vacant seats in private colleges, therefore, there are high chances of getting another round of college-level counseling as many seats are still vacant in colleges, especially in Indore division, there are around 45000 seats vacant in colleges,” additional director of Indore’s Higher Education Department, Dr. Suresh Silawat told TOI.

In Government Holkar Science College, for around 1000 remaining vacant seats which include both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, only 20-30 percent of candidates have taken admission and the remaining 700 seats are still vacant. As per the figures of the Directorate of Higher Education (DHE), a total of 386415 candidates have got admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses of which 286486 candidates had registered themselves for various undergraduate courses whereas 99929 candidates had registered themselves in postgraduate courses for the fourth round of CLC which included the majority of the newly registered candidates. While as many as 63238 candidates had registered for undergraduate courses, 95 percent of the total registered candidates for various undergraduate courses got themselves verified for the fourth round of CLC making it up to 60117. Whereas in postgraduate courses, 26487 candidates had registered themselves of which 24512 candidates had verified themselves.
