Woxsen University India s Academic Support Partner At The Tech4Democracy Venture Day Delhi 2023

Tech4Democracy is a global initiative that aims to identify and encourage entrepreneurs to develop democracy-affirming technologies such as data for policymaking, responsible AI & machine learning, tools to fight disinformation, digital identity & trust, and transparent & inclusive government data

Tech4Democracy – part of President Biden’s Summit for Democracy, aimed at mobilising democratic governments, the private sector and civil society to defend democracy today and safeguard it for future generations, was held in Delhi earlier this month. Woxsen University was India’s Academic Support Partner at Asia-Pacific Tech4Democracy. The event is co-organised by IE University and India’s top think-tank the Observer Research Foundation in partnership with the U.S. State Department and with strategic support from Microsoft. 

Tech4Democracy is a global initiative that aims to identify and encourage entrepreneurs to develop democracy-affirming technologies such as data for policymaking, responsible AI & machine learning, tools to fight disinformation, digital identity & trust, and transparent & inclusive government data. The fourth competition of Tech4Democracy’s Venture Day brought together entrepreneurs, policymakers, experts and investors to select the best tech start-up in Asia-Pacific that is contributing to advancing democratic values.

The event witnessed a stellar line-up of leading members of the investor community in Asia, top academicians, former government officials and executives from renowned organisations based in Australia, India, Singapore & Japan. Some of them included Anirban Sarma, Chair T20 Task Force at ORF; Graham Mayer, Minister Counselor for political affairs at the US Embassy in New Delhi; Ashutosh Chadha, Country Head- Government Affairs & Public Policy at Microsoft India. 

The Tech4Democracy Venture day covered several key topics such as the role of technology in promoting citizen engagement and participation, strategies for using technology to promote transparency and accountability in government, the impact of technology on electoral processes and outcomes, the potential of blockchain and other emerging technologies to transform democracy and governance, the role of social media in shaping public opinion and political discourse, the ethical and legal implications of using technology in democratic processes.
