UP Schools News: UP Class 1 to 8 students to be promoted without exams


LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh government has recently issued a notification, stating that students studying in schools under the Basic Education Council from Classes 1 to 8 will be promoted to the next grade without any exams. The notification has been released by Pratap Singh Baghel, the secretary of the UP Basic Education Council.
The Right to Education Act allows for children from Class 1 to 8 to be promoted to the next grade without fail. The recent order ensures that no student will be held back in the academic session 2022-23 in all council and recognized schools.
Additionally, the directive includes instructions to distribute report cards to students based on their annual examinations. Vijay Kiran Anand, the Director General of School Education in UP, stated that the state government follows a “no retention policy” and that this notification is in accordance with the RTE Act.
