560 Universities Planning to Conduct Exams across India

 755 out of 945 universities across India have responded to UGC’s final exam guidelines so far. Out of these 560 universities have started either started gearing up for the conduct final exams or is conducting exams.

The majority of the universities across India responded to the UGC guidelines to conduct exams by 30 September. Many of them have terminated the final exams.

The UGC today confirmed that out of 945 universities (as per the list maintained by University Grants Commission till June 1, 2020), 755 Universities responded to the revised guidelines (120 Deemed Universities, 274 Private Universities, 40 Central Universities, and 321 State Universities) and information from remaining universities are yet to obtain.

Secretary, University Grants Commission, conferred today in a statement that “Out of the 755 universities, 560 have either conducted the examination or are planning to conduct. Among these 560 varsities, 194 have already conducted an examination, and 366 are planning to conduct the examination in an online, offline, blended mode in August and September. In addition, 27 Private Universities were established during 2019-20 and their first batch is yet to become eligible for final examination”.

The revised guidelines released by the UGC instructed all the universities across the nation to plan out the schedule of final year exams which are to be held by the end of September. The exams could be offline (pen and paper), online, or in the blended mode as per the protocols considering the pandemic.

Also, the UGC communicated to the universities on July 8 the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the Conduction of Examinations as suggested by HRD Ministry.

The universities have responded to the guidelines by sharing their schedule of holding final year exams. UGC strongly stands on the fact that exams are an integral part of any education system. It will further provide credibility to the degree held by the universities conduct exams.

UGC said, “The performance in examinations contributes to merit, lifelong credibility, wider global acceptability for admissions, scholarships, awards, placements, and better future prospects. A large number of best universities across the world including US, UK, Canada, Germany, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and other countries, have conducted or are conducting examinations by giving various options”.
