On Wednesday, the University Grants Commission (UGC) declared 24 universities of the country ‘fake’. Most of these ‘fake’ universities are located in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
On Wednesday, the University Grants Commission (UGC) declared 24 universities of the country ‘fake’. UGC in the process of performing its responsibility to maintain standards of Higher Education in the country took this action.
Rajnish Jain, UGC Secretary conferred “Students and public are informed that currently, 24 self-styled, unrecognized institutions are functioning in contravention of the UGC Act, which have been declared as fake universities and these are not empowered to confer any degree”.
UGC further mentioned that aspiring students are advised not to pursue higher education courses with such self-styled universities/vishwavidyalaya. Presently, there are 24 such self-styled fake Universities/Vishwavidyalayas on the records of the Commission which are functioning in contravention of the provisions of the UGC Act, 1956.
Most of these ‘fake’ universities are located in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
