A lady researcher from Thailand will be the first student of the University of Madras to shield her proposal by means of the videoconference.
Prapaporn Vitheeswat, 42, is a researcher in the Thailand government’s Department of Marine and Coastal Resources of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Ms. Prapaporn needed to do research in aquaculture and her quest for a guide finished with N. Munuswamy, presently a CSIR emeritus researcher in the college’s Zoology division, Guindy grounds.
With the Thai government financing her research, the lady made a trip to Chennai in 2016. Her research work was fish and shrimp species, especially on cryo-protection of sperm, Dr. Munuswamy said. As per him, she is his 38th Ph.D. competitor.
She finished her course work in November a year ago and came back to Bangkok to be with her family, including an eight-year-old little girl. She had proposed to come back to India for her Ph.D. theory barrier.
In April, the University Grants Commission, to a solicitation from the higher education secretary of Gujarat in April, educated that the viva voce test could be directed by means of video conferencing that gave the college’s legal specialists endorsed of it.
G. Shanmugam, a retired professor of the university of madras, said he had proposed to the Vice-Chancellor that video conferencing could be utilized to lead the oral test for Ph.D. students. As indicated by him, the college had thought about his recommendation.
The UGC’s choice was taken up for thought by the college and on May 15, the recorder officially insinuated to every affiliated school and directors of research associations
Ms. Prapaporn’s viva is booked for June 26. She will guard her theory against her specialty in Bangkok and the outside analyst and the director will take an interest by means of videoconference in Chennai.
