Tamil Nadu’s Higher education office is reportedly wanting to consolidate two shifts and change college timings for Government Arts and Science Colleges in the state.
As indicated by media reports, the arrangement is to run colleges in a single shift instead of the two shift (morning and night), which is operational at present.The choice has been taken because of the fewer number of students going to the night classes, reports said.
So the division of higher education may join the two shifts and run classes in only one shift. Reportedly, at present classes in the first part of the day shift are run between 8.45 am to 1.15 pm and the night shift starts at 1.30 pm and finishes at 6.05 pm, while in the new plan of things the classes will begin from 10 am and end at 4 pm.
