Reforms in Education and Training of CA’s by ICAI, Applicable from 2017

 

 

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has formulated the Revised Scheme of Education and Training for the purpose of synchronizing the CA passouts with the requisites of the dynamic global business environment. The role of a Chartered Accountant (CA) has been continually evolving in the recent years, for capably assuming the newer responsibilities in a dynamic environment.

 

Official Statements

According to G. Ramaswamy (past president of Institute of Chartered Accountants of India), “ The Revised Scheme of Education and Training for CA course will come into effect from 1st July, 2017. Meeting the diverse range of expectations from various stakeholders in the given becomes the focal point of the potentiality of the Chartered Accountancy education system.” The students, who are eligible to register in the CPT/IIPCC/Final under the existing scheme, can register on or before June 30, 2017.

 

According to a central council member of the institute, Sripriya Kumar added: “The syllabus is reviewed thoroughly and regularly at all levels of the CA course. It is structured in such a way that the students can adopt the new syllabus in phases.” The changes introduced in the revised scheme are in accordance with International Education Standards, issued by International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) after receiving inputs from various stakeholders.

What more in the Revised Scheme

The Revised Scheme features the redefining and upgrading of professional skills and professional values, technical competence, ethics and attitudes in order to better prepare aspiring Chartered Accountants to take on new-dynamic roles. With the new tax reform, the profession will have have an important role. There will be more job opportunities with these reforms. The mandatory requirement of practical training, one of the foundation stones of this Institute’s high standing continues to be an integral feature of the Revised Scheme of Education and Training.
