Odisha Research Fellowship: OSHEC Recruitment 2023: Applications invited for seed funding, research fellowship

BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha state higher education council (OSHEC) has invited applications from faculty members (aged below 45 years) of different colleges and universities to carry out research works by getting seed funding from the state government. It has also invited applications from students (aged below 35 years) to get research fellowship.
Under the Odisha University Research and Innovation Incentivization Plan (OURIIP) scheme, the council will give seed funding to 40 regular faculty members (with PhD degree) of state public universities, government and government aided colleges in the state under the higher education department and the skill development and technical education department.
Government will provide seed funding of Rs 7 lakh to each faculty member for research. Duration of two years will be the period to show output of the research. Last date to apply for the funding is June 30, official sources said.
The faculty members need to submit appropriate research proposals which must address a research/technology/innovation gap in the concerned subject area or generate data relevant for the development thrust areas of the state or nation. The research needs to be relevant and of contemporary nature leading to clear deliverables in terms of new knowledge or products or processes, said the official sources.
“We will scrutinize the research proposals and select the best of them after June 30. We will select 40 innovative research proposals and award them with seed funding,” said Asoka Kumar Das, vice-chairman of OSHEC.
Under the OURIIP scheme, the council also awards research fellowships to students (aged below 35 years as on January 1, 2023) who have qualified national eligibility test (NET) conducted by nationally recognised agencies like the University Grants Commission (UGC), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in over 35 PG subjects.
To be eligible for the fellowship this year, one must have qualified NET on or after 2020. The applicant for the scholarship must be a permanent resident of Odisha. The number of fellowships in each subject is limited to five with two earmarked for women candidates only. A candidate can get Rs 15,000 per month assistance apart from yearly contingency fund for four years.
