NICO students hold ‘Nourish your Knowledge’ campaign for housekeeping staff


MANGALURU: The students of Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) hosted a campaign on ‘Nourish your Knowledge’ in order to create awareness on nutrition and mental health among the housekeeping staff.
Resource persons delivered talks on the topic during the programme held at the college campus in Paneer near here on Tuesday.
Dr Prerana Hegde, chief dietician, Justice KS Hegde Hospital, spoke about how some of the commonly eaten breakfast were not ideal food to be consumed in the morning and suggested the participants combine it with vegetables or grains to make it a balanced diet. She further advised the audience to have a mixture of at least two vegetables in the curries prepared by them.
The audience were taught about the difference between mental health and mental illness by Agneita Aiman Pengal, lecturer and psychiatric social worker, KS Hegde Medical Academy. She asked the audience to not consider themselves unwise if they are facing mental health issues.
A stress management test was conducted in order to help the audience understand their stress levels and cope with it. An interactive session was held for the participants to understand them better.
Prof Raviraj, head of the department, NICO presided while students Kashish Purohit and Amritha VK conducted the programme that witnessed participation of all housekeeping staff of the institute.
