JAMMU: In a move aimed at addressing the growing demand for professionals skilled in both Mathematics and Computer Science, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has unveiled a cutting-edge undergraduate program, B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing. Recognizing the intricate connection between Mathematics and the booming fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Science (DS).
The official spokesperson of IIT Jammu said, “The main objective of the course is to empower young minds to contribute to its revolutionary advancements.”
“The B.Tech in Mathematics & Computing program is a four-year course designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of the interdependence between Mathematics and Computer Science.”
He added that the Students will delve into diverse areas such as statistics, real and complex analysis, and optimization techniques. “Simultaneously, they will receive a robust education in fundamental computer science topics essential for their chosen field.”
Moreover, the program allows students to personalize their learning experience by offering a plethora of electives from various domains and to explore their specific areas of interest and kindle their passion for specific topics.
“Aspirants need to have cleared their Class XII or equivalent examinations from a recognized board, with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language, and an additional subject apart from the aforementioned four and the selection process will be based on the valid rank obtained in the JEE (Advanced) National Entrance Exam 2022, IIT Jammu spokesperson added .
He further claimed that the career prospects for graduates of this program are vast and promising as the program serves as a launchpad for young minds to shape the future of AI and contribute to its transformative power across various industries.
