HNLU's new IPR chair to promote innovation and research in IP Laws

RAIPUR: Hidayatullah National Law University has obtained the Intellectual Property Chair of the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (CIPAM) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry under the Scheme for Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for Holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA). According to the norms of this establishment of the Chair, there will be funding for appointing a Professor, Research associates, and sponsoring PhD candidates in IPR. The funding norms will also mandate conducting workshops and training programs on IPR for other institutions and various stakeholders, as stated in an HNLU press release.
SPRIHA also mandates the offering of UG/PG/Diploma and Certificate courses in IPR and allows internships for students at IP offices in India. HNLU Vice-Chancellor Prof. V.C. Vivekanandan said, “This is the first Chair established at HNLU and will coexist with the Centre for Innovation and Intellectual Property Laws (CIIPL) of the School for Technology & Law (SLT), established under the Research-Hub & Spoke division of HNLU. We will soon announce the various mandated programs in Chhattisgarh, which is already a well-established techno-management-medical education capital with AIIMS, IIT, IIIT, NIT, and IIM, apart from established traditional and private universities in the state.”
This pioneering initiative aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and research in the field of IP laws and interface with Science, Technology, and Management. HNLU will appoint a Chair Professor and Research Associates under this scheme, in addition to funded Research Scholars as per the mandate of the Chair.
