Delhi schools to remain closed today due to rains

NEW DELHI: Delhi schools will remain closed for a second consecutive day on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, due to heavy rains and adverse weather conditions. In addition to the decision made by the Delhi government, an official order from the education department of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) stated that all schools run, aided, or recognized by the MCD will be closed for students on this day.
The order, issued on Monday, highlighted the need to prioritize the safety and well-being of students in light of the heavy rainfall and the alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) regarding adverse weather conditions in Delhi. The closure applies to all MCD schools, MCD-aided schools, and recognized schools.
The ongoing monsoon season and the possibility of further rains have prompted the Delhi government and the MCD education department to take precautionary measures. The IMD has issued a yellow alert, indicating the likelihood of moderate rain or thundershowers, for the coming days in Delhi.
The closure of schools extends to students only, emphasizing the importance of their safety during this period. Teachers and staff may be required to be present for administrative tasks or to assess and address any weather-related concerns within the school premises.
It is crucial for parents, students, and school staff to stay informed about the updates from the government and education authorities regarding the reopening of schools. As the weather situation evolves, authorities will closely monitor the conditions to determine when it is safe to resume regular academic activities.
During this time, students are encouraged to make use of alternative modes of learning, such as online classes or assignments, to ensure their educational progress is not significantly disrupted. Teachers and educational institutions are working diligently to ensure that learning continuity is maintained despite the temporary closure.
As Delhi continues to face heavy rainfall, the government advises citizens to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has been alerted to the possibility of service disruptions due to the inclement weather.
