Indore:
Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) left no stone unturned to ensure the security of BCom re-examination question papers by personally delivering question papers to nearly 45 exam centres in the city on Friday. A dedicated team of 35 DAVV employees took charge of the task with the examination scheduled to commence at 3 pm.
The university officials dispatched sealed envelopes containing the question papers precisely 15 minutes before the start time, as per the established protocol. This move aimed to combat any potential mishaps or irregularities during the examination process. Previously, due to the lack of staff to dispatch the question papers, the question papers were handed over to the exam centres representatives from the university campus. After this, the representatives were supposed to keep the sealed envelopes at the nearest police stations to their colleges. However, releasing that papers were getting leaked during this process, the university changed the method.
The university’s examination department chalked out a comprehensive plan, establishing ten different vehicle routes to ensure the timely delivery of the question papers while maintaining the utmost confidentiality. The re-examination was organized for the subject of Business Organization and Communication for first-year BCom students.
In order to prevent any compromise in the security of the re-examination, DAVV formed dedicated teams comprising employees from the Examination-Secretary Department. These employees ensured the integrity of the process by personally opening the paper envelopes at the examination centres.
Approximately 14,000 students appeared for the re-examination, which was conducted smoothly. To further enhance transparency, the exam centers recorded the entire process on video. The university officials emphasized that these strict measures were implemented in response to the previous incident of paper leakage.
“As we had planned, the examination was conducted smoothly and we haven’t received any complaints or cheating cases also so far. The question papers were delivered to the centres right before the exams leaving no room for any paper leaks. Maintaining the confidentiality of the examination is our priority,.” said Rachna Thakur, deputy registrar (Exams) at DAVV.
DAVV had conducted the second batch of first-year exams, including BA, B.Com, and B.Sc. The examination for the business organization and communication subject was scheduled for May 15. However, the paper went viral on internet media at 11:39 pm on May 14, prompting the university to take immediate action.
In light of the previous paper leakage incident, the university had also sent flying squad teams to conduct thorough inspections at most exam centres.
