CU-Chayan: UGC launches faculty recruitment portal for Central universities

New Delhi: The University Grants Commission (UGC) launched the “CU- Chayan” – a unified recruitment portal, designed and developed specifically for the faculty recruitments in central universities on Tuesday. The portal aims at catering to the needs of all stakeholders in the recruitment process by providing a common platform for listing of vacancies/ advertisements/ jobs across making the recruitment process completely online in the central universities.
The commission has developed this portal to create an enabling environment for both, universities and the applicants with universities driving all the stages of the recruitment independently. It provides a common platform for listing of vacancies/ advertisements/ jobs across all Central Universities and makes the recruitment process completely online starting from application to screening with alerts to all the users of the portal.
Some of the key features of the portal are single applicant login for applying to any/all central universities, real-time tracking of application, a personalized dashboard for each applicant, admin dashboard for each university/ department, online feedback/ reference for applicants, and real-time analysis and application insights.
According to M Jagadesh Kumar, chairperson, UGC, “For applicants, the platform offers a range of features, including a consolidated listing of job openings across all participating universities… The applicant can also search for jobs using various filters like university name, location, designation, category, subject, type of employment, experience, education level, etc.”
For applicants, they will be able to access the faculty application process of any CU from this single portal. They can keep updating their application from the personalized dashboard for each applicant and transfer this application to any CU which has advertised faculty positions. Registered applicants will also get an auto email informing about the new vacancies advertised by any CU. This portal is only for the faculty vacancies arising in all CUs.
“Current recruitments for which advertisements have already been issued will go on without using this portal. However, all future recruitments will take place on this portal,” said Kumar.
From now onwards for all new recruitments, applicants must apply only on the CU-Chayan portal. All the CUs need to de-activate their recruitment portal.
Universities, however, should continue with the current practice of putting a short advertisement in newspapers and give a link to CU-Chayan portal to see the detailed advertisement.
