NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has revised the eligibility criteria for OCI, PIO card holders for NEET UG 2023. Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) preparing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET UG can check the updated eligibility criteria on the official website neet.nta.nic.in.
“Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/Siddha/Un ani/Homeopathy Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institutions and the Government of India as the case may be,” reads the official notice.
“Indian Nationals, Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Persons with Indian Origin (PIO) and Foreign Nationals are eligible for admission in Medical/Dental/Ayurveda/Siddha/Un ani/Homeopathy Colleges subject to rules and regulations framed by the respective State Governments, Institutions and the Government of India as the case may be,” reads the official notice.
Earlier, the PIO cardholder and foreign nationals were not deemed eligible for admission against any seat reserved exclusively for Indian citizens. Hence, OCI/PIO candidates were treated as foreigners and was eligible for NRI seats only.

The decision comes after the decision from the Hon’ble Supreme Court Order which states that the OCI will be entitled to the rights and privileges which had been conferred on them earlier to the notification dated 04/03/2021.
