NEET Counselling 2021: 5 Important Things About the new NEET Counseling Process of MCC

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has started the registration process for the NEET PG 2021 counseling. Eligible candidates can visit the official website of MCC-mcc.nic.in for registration. As per the official website, the last date to apply for round 1 of the counseling is January 17, 2022.

But before that, the MCC has recently notified a few changes to NEET PG counseling which will be implemented from the 2021-22 academic year. So, check these 5 points you should know before participating in the NEET 2021 counseling process.

5 important changes made by the MCC in the NEET counseling process are given below:

1.There will be four rounds of NEET Counselling 2021

This time, NEET counseling will be conducted in four rounds for both UG and PG medical and dental seats. They are AIQ round 1, AIQ round 2, AIQ mop-up round, and AIQ stray vacancy round.

2. Seats will not be reverted to states

Leftover seats after round 2 will not revert to the states as the four rounds of counseling will also be done for seats of state-run colleges contributed towards the central pool and seats at centrally-funded institutions. Counseling for leftover seats will be continued in mop-up and stray vacancy rounds.3. There will be no fresh registration in stray vacancy round

3. There will be no fresh registration in stray vacancy round

Candidates can do a fresh registration for the first, second, and third-round based on their eligibility. But, there will be no fresh registration allowed for the fourth round.

4. There will be no change in Central Institutes’ counseling scheme

The MCC has said that the proposed modified scheme of 4 rounds of online counseling will be in tune with the prevailing norms of counseling including the fees and security deposit being followed for Central Institutes/Universities.

5. There is a change in the seat up-gradation process

Candidates will not be allowed to apply for up-gradation of seats or free exit after round 1. Candidates can apply for up-gradation of seats in round 2 after the results of the round 1 seat allotment. However, after round 2, they cannot apply for up-gradation of seats in rounds 3 and 4.

If a candidate has joined the allotted seat in round 2, they can’t resign the seat and participate in the further rounds. But, if they do not attend the allotted seat for round 2, they are eligible for the mop-up round if they forfeit the security deposit and do a fresh registration.
