INDORE: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) published a corrigendum on Friday giving five percent relaxation in minimum eligibility marks to Other Backward Category (OBC) in advertisements of librarian and sports officer.
The commission in corrigendum stated that in accordance with the letter of higher education department, the candidates belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, OBC and Physically handicapped, would have five percent relaxation in minimum eligibility marks.
The commission prescribed for 55% marks in post-graduation for other categories of students for applying to recruitment examination in accordance with University Grants Commission’s minimum eligibility criteria for both the recruitments.
The commission also referred to UGC guidelines prescribing minimum qualifications, 2018 and a letter of the social justice department for giving relaxation to OBC category candidates.
The commission published advertisements for recruitment to 255 posts of librarian and 129 posts of sports officer on December 30 last year along with advertisements of assistant professors.
MPPSC OSD R Panchbhai said, “The commission has received a letter from higher education department for required changes in minimum eligibility criteria for applying to the sports officer and librarian recruitment, so a corrigendum effecting changes in advertisement is issued.”
Earlier, the commission provided five percent relaxation to OBC candidates for applying to 1600 posts of Assistant Professors in 36 subjects following a TOI report. TOI on January 7 reported about this anomaly in advertisements issued.
After this change, hundreds of OBC candidates can now apply to the various posts of sports officer and librarian. The state government is undertaking a recruitment drive for these posts after five years.
Prior to this, the recruitment advertisement was issued in December 2017 and appointment was given in 2019, showed records.
