MHRD organizes a National Workshop on “Social Media Management and Practices”

Department of Human Resources Development held a full-day workshop on “Social Media Management and Practice” on December 27, 2019, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi to various educational institutions and organizations. The workshop was inaugurated by Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Hon’ble Union Minister for HRD. The Central University of Odisha along with a center funded by other educational institutions participated in the workshop.

DG principle, the Press Information Bureau, Shri Kuldeep Singh Dhatwalia; Joint Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education Smt Neeta Prasad; Joint Secretary, Department of School Education, Shri Meena R.C; Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, Smt Nanu Bhasin and other senior officials of the Ministry of HRD present on this occasion.


In India, the reach of social media is the highest among other media. Each institution must use social media platforms to promote their best works, best practices, and best things. The Social Media Champions of each institution can build an image by sharing all the achievements in social media, said Shri Pokhara. He also said that social media is an interactive medium in which the communication process involves either way. It allows institutions to reach the local, regional, national and even international. New innovations, ideas, and research quality should be a shared platform to achieve great people.

Keeping the importance of Social Media he suggested educational institutions to organize seminars/workshops on Social Media Press Information Bureau in support of their respective countries.

He further said that the purpose of the workshop is to bring social media communication and outreach of the various agencies under one umbrella and open channels for the day to day communication and dialogue. Social media has become a powerful tool to connect, interact and collaborate. Use it as a tool to improve performance by improving services and changing the image of the brand to the organization, he added. He also promised to happy and appreciate the best social media champion at the national level.

During the first session of the workshop Shri Abhishek Singh, Chief Executive Officer, MyGov, gave a lecture on the social media platform strategy for Government Communications. Shri KS Dhatwalia, Principal DG, PIB highlighted the different techniques used in social media. Nanu Ms. Bhasin, ADDL. DG, PIB, gives an overview of the program and unify the broad goal of social media managers from different organizations HRD ministry of education in his introductory speech.

In the second session B. Shri Narayanan, ADG, Social Media, PIB, and Dr. Rajesh Naithani, social media HRM Adviser described the use of social media platforms in a variety of purposes. At the end of the workshop certificates distributed to all participants.
