JEE Main 2023, April 12, shift 1 exam ends: Exam Analysis, reactions shortly


NEW DELHI: Today is the fifth day of the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2023 for the Second Session examination being conducted by the National Testing Agency across India.
The JEE Main 2023 (B.E./B.Tech) exam is being conducted entirely in computer-based mode by the Agency. JEE Main Exam 2023 (B.E./B.Tech.) will be held in two shifts, i.e. first shift from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm & second shift from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The exam will be conducted for two more days i.e., on April 13 and 15, 2023. Due to Ambedkar Jayanti, no exam will be held on April 14, 2023.
JEE Main 2023: Things to Carry on the Exam Day

  • You need to carry the following items before leaving for the examination centre:
  • JEE Main admit card 2023 along with self-declaration
  • A simple transparent ballpoint pen
  • Additional Photographs to be pasted on the attendance sheet
  • Personal hand sanitiser
  • Personal transparent water bottle

JEE Main 2023: Things Not to Carry on JEE Main 2023 Exam Day

  • Do not carry any stationary including pen, paper, pencil, textual material (printed or written material) pencil box, geometry box, etc. Pen/Pencil and blank paper sheets for rough work will be provided in the examination room.
  • ID cards issued by schools/colleges/ universities/ coaching centres will not be considered valid IDs. Even photocopies or images stored on mobile phones will not be accepted.
  • Do not carry eatables (loose or packed) and water inside the exam hall. These will not be allowed.
  • Any metallic item or electronic gadgets/devices will not be allowed in the exam hall. This includes a Mobile phone, Ear Phone, Microphone, Pager, Calculator, DocuPen, Slide Rules, Log Tables, Camera, Tape Recorder, etc. Aspirants will also not be allowed to wear/carry any type of watch including Electronic watches with facilities of calculator, any metallic item, or electronic gadgets/devices in the Examination Hall/Room.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to carry any kind of handbag or purse.

Special Privilege: Diabetic students will be allowed to carry eatables like sugar tablets/fruits and transparent water bottles to the test centre. However, packed food items like chocolates/candy/sandwiches will not be allowed.

As per our expert faculty analysis, below are the Key Take-Aways from Day 4 – JEE Main (Session 2) Shift 1 – 2023:
Subject Wise Difficulty Level

  • Physics was rated as easy on the difficulty level. It consisted mostly of easy& moderate questions. Questions were evenly distributed among all units and most of the questions were NCERT based.
  • Chemistry was rated as easy to moderate on difficulty level. Almost equal weightage was given to Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics was rated as moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from all chapters. Emphasis was on Algebra.

Class Wise Distribution Level

  • In Physics, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
  • In Chemistry, majorly questions were from the Class 12th syllabus.
  • In Mathematics, majorly questions were from the Class 11th syllabus.
  • Overall the questions had an approximately equal weightage from Class 11th & Class 12th syllabus.

Overall Difficulty Level
The overall difficulty of JEE Main (Session 2) 11th April 2023 – Shift 1 was easy to moderate. Mathematics was the most difficult subject to attempt out of all three subjects. The order of difficulty in different subjects is — Mathematics > Chemistry > Physics.

Subject Wise Difficulty Level

  • Physics was rated as easy to moderate on the difficulty level. It consisted mostly of easy & moderate questions. Most of the questions were NCERT based and were evenly distributed among all major units and.
  • Chemistry was rated as the easiest out of the all. Number of questions in Organic Chemistry was more than Inorganic Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.
  • Mathematics was rated as moderate to difficult. Questions were asked from all chapters. Emphasis was on Algebra.
