Heatwave: Jharkhand schools timings changed from April 19 to 25

RANCHI: As the summer heat intensifies across India, Jharkhand’s state government’s education department has decided to change the school timings in some districts. The new timings will be effective from April 19 to 25, and the decision was made keeping in mind the safety and well-being of the students.
According to the latest order, students from kindergarten to class 5 will attend schools from 7 am to 11 am, while senior students will attend classes till noon. The order stated that prayer meetings or sports will not be conducted under the sun during this period, but mid-day meals will continue. These changes in school timings will help ensure that students do not have to bear the brunt of the scorching heat during peak hours.
The Met department had earlier issued a heat wave alert for 11 districts on April 18 and 19. The districts that may witness a rise in temperatures are Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Chatra, Godda, Sahibganj, Dumka, Pakur, East Singhbhum, Saraikela-Kharswan and West Singhbhum. Many parts of the state have already witnessed temperatures soaring above 40 degrees Celsius, making it difficult for students to attend schools during regular hours.
The decision to change the school timings was made after considering the well-being of the students and to prevent any health hazards due to the heat wave. The state government is also taking additional measures to ensure the safety of the students and urging people to stay indoors during peak hours.
